Frequently Asked Questions

Therapeutic Process

What can I expect during my first therapy session?

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will discuss your concerns, goals for therapy, and any relevant background information. This session also allows us to determine if we are a good fit and outline a plan for moving forward.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Yes, we accept reservations. Please call us or book online through our website.

How long does therapy usually last?

The length of therapy varies based on individual needs and goals. Some clients benefit from short-term therapy (a few months), while others engage in longer-term support. We will continually assess progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed.

How often will I need to attend sessions?

Most clients start with weekly or biweekly sessions. As progress is made, we may transition to less frequent sessions. The frequency will be based on your needs, preferences, and treatment goals.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

At this time, I only provide telehealth services.

What is your approach to therapy?

I take a collaborative and integrative approach, tailoring therapy to each client’s unique needs. My work is informed by evidence-based practices and a culturally sensitive perspective, ensuring a supportive and effective experience.

Will I need a diagnosis to use my insurance?

Yes, insurance companies require that services be deemed “medically necessary,” which means a mental health diagnosis must be included in your records. If this is a concern, we can discuss alternative payment options.

What happens if my insurance doesn’t cover therapy?

If your insurance does not cover therapy, you have the option to pay privately. We offer a sliding scale fee based on financial need to help make therapy accessible.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! As a mental health professional licensed in the state of Texas, I can provide therapy to any resident within the state, regardless of location. However, you must be physically located in Texas during all scheduled appointments.

What platform do you use for telehealth sessions?

We use a HIPAA-compliant platform to ensure confidentiality and security during online sessions. Details will be provided upon scheduling.

Is telehealth as effective as in-person therapy?

Yes! Research suggests that telehealth can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress management, and life transitions. Telehealth offers the same evidence-based approaches used in traditional therapy while providing added flexibility and accessibility.

Do I need special equipment for telehealth sessions?

You only need a stable internet connection, a private space, and a device with a camera and microphone (such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone).

Is telehealth covered by insurance?

Many insurance providers cover telehealth therapy, but coverage varies. We recommend checking with your insurance company to confirm your benefits.
